Epidemiology of colon cancer: overview

The subject of the overview is population-based studies on the epidemiology and survival of primary colon cancer (CC). An analysis of the publications on an epidemiology СС is performed. Three different epidemiological models of СС are described. Risk factors of CC are discussed. Analysis of the literature shows significant differences in the levels and dynamics of incidence and mortality in different geographical regions. Population-based evaluation of survival in CC is analyzed. Survival in CC, estimated at a population level, varies widely between countries, and in most regions tends to grow up. Factors, affecting the population trends of survival CC are discussed.
