Evacuation Hospitals in the Republic of Buryatia During the Great Patriotic War: A Historical and Medical Analysis

The article provides a comprehensive analysis of the organization and operation of the evacuation hospital system in the Republic of Buryatia during 1941–1945. Based on archival materials, published sources, and contemporary research, the article examines the development of the hospital network, logistical support, medical operations, and staffing. Special attention is given to the evacuation hospital located at 36a Oktyabrskaya Street in Ulan-Ude, which serves as a symbol of the continuity of medical traditions. The findings highlight the significant contribution of Buryatia’s medical personnel to victory in the Great Patriotic War and allow for an assessment of the effectiveness of medical care organization in rear-area conditions.
