The evolution of pedagogical knowledge of teachers of Russian (pre-revolutionary period)

The article presents a history of generating teaching and pedagogical literature in Russia; it identifies main p h ases of development and functions of this kind of literature, gives definition of systematic complex of didactic means in pedagogy, identifies the content of teaching material in books on pedagogy which is arbitrarily divided into seven blocks according to major spheres of scientific knowledge about man and his upbringing.
