On the issue of the language environment formation in a non-linguistic university

The article is devoted to the issues of constructing a model of the language environment in a non-linguistic university, which allows students to use a foreign language as a tool for obtaining information of a scientific or professional nature. The importance of creating a language environment to achieve the effectiveness of foreign language training of students of non-linguistic universities is analyzed. The language environment is the main means and condition of communication-oriented learning. There are two types of language environment: natural and artificial. Learning in a natural language environment involves education in the country of the language being studied. The artificial language environment means the recreation of the natural language environment with the help of various learning tools. The use of a foreign language as a means of searching, analyzing and creatively applying information, as well as a means of communication, is becoming especially relevant in the conditions of the modern labor market. The article describes an algorithm for preparing students to speak at a scientific and practical conference, which the author considers as a valuable educational resource for the formation of a foreign language culture of a future specialist. As the most effective method of preparing students to participate in the conference, such a type of independent work as project activity is considered. Turning to the project method as a means of organizing students' activities in preparation for the conference makes it possible to expand the time frame of the language environment. The article summarizes the experience of creating an artificial language environment as a condition for the implementation of students' projects to prepare for scientific and practical conferences.
