State support of small and medium-sized businesses in implementation of environmental management systems

The article deals with general issues of environmental management based on the application of international and national standards. Attention is paid to the advantages associated with implementation of environmental management systems at the enterprise. The necessity of wider implementation of environmental management systems in organizations belonging to the category of small and medium-sized businesses is substantiated. Some measures to stimulate the introduction of environmental management systems used in foreign countries are noted. Based on the analysis of Russian legislation, the problem of insufficient state support of small and medium-sized businesses in implementation of environmental management systems by them was identified and specific proposals were made to solve it.
