Towards translation of diminutives from Russian into English

The paper discusses the dual character of diminutives as a lexical-grammatical category and lingvocultural concept, which display culturally specific features in the Russian and English languages. Given the interlingual asymmetry of diminutive paradigms, the ways and techniques of conveying the culturally specific meaning of diminutiveness in Russian-English translation of fiction are analyzed.
