On the question of the concept and essence of the investigative examination

In the article, the author examines the essence and significance of such investigative actions as an investigative examination. The genesis of the term «investigative inspection» in the history of domestic legislation has been studied. The opinions of scientists in the field of criminal procedure and criminology regarding the concept of investigative examination are analyzed. We propose to understand by an investigative examination the investigative action provided for by the criminal procedure law, which consists in the direct detection, investigation and fixation of objects relevant to the criminal case, their signs, properties, condition and mutual disposition. An investigative examination is an important procedural action for the investigation of a crime, since it allows you to quickly and directly detect and record criminally significant information that forms the basis for all further investigation of a criminal case. Based on the results of the study, a refined definition of «investigative inspection» was proposed, and signs distinguishing it from other investigative actions were indicated.
