Issue of trade and investment cooperation between Russia and China

The article discusses the modern aspects of economic cooperation between Russia and China. Russia is one of the main areas of investment within the framework of China's “One Belt, One Way” initiative. At the same time expectations of an increase in the flow of direct investment from China determine absolutely opposite opinions: from new opportunities for modernizing the Russian economy under the conditions of sanctions to a threat to national and territorial security in connection with the conditions put forward by the Chinese side for investment projects and the fear of expansion in border regions. The article analyzes the current situation in the field of investment activity and trade between the two countries, justifies the motives of the participants in the process, which subsequently makes it possible to work out measures to resolve the situation and develop economic cooperation between the two countries.
