An overview of various approaches to defining the concept of “digital competence” is presented. With the goal of developing digital competencies for all students of the university, the program and content of the course “Introduction to End-to-End Digital Technologies” were developed. An analysis of the current state of teaching computer science and information technology at the North-Eastern Federal University (NEFU) was carried out, which made it possible to draw a conclusion about the possibility of introducing the course in the 2019/2020 academic year. The positions on which the structure of the program and the content of the course were conceptually based are given. The main conceptual position is that you need to teach programming as a basic digital skill to first-year students of all areas of training and specialties. A brief description of the course sections is given, and on the basis of the content of each section, a list of the necessary equipment, cloud services and software for laboratory (practical) lessons is compiled. The experience of teaching the course allowed us to draw several conclusions and formulate directions for its further improvement.
