On the Issue of the Relationship between the Professional Subjectivity of a Higher Education Teacher and His Habitus

The article considers the possible correlation between faculty agency and their habitus. Defining faculty agency as their ability to act and impact their performance within the given circumstances, while interpreting teacher habitus as an individualized structure and disposition internalized within the process of their own studies directing teachers’ further professional experience, we have the opportunity to get more insight into the faculty potential related to their professional performance transformation, new ideas perception and their efficacy growth. Developed professional agency of the faculty subject to the impact of habitus, which can also be modified, in its turn, by professional agency, can become a tool of professional self-actualization and development. In this regard, the university teachers’ performance can be viewed as a result of their advanced professional agency and modified habitus.
