Pun as an element of a comic nonsense in the proze of Lewis Carroll

Based on semantic-stylistic and statistical analysis, the article reviews author’s metaphorical occasionalisms through the study of L. Carroll’s «Alice in Wonderland» in comparison with its Russian translations by B. Zakhoder and L. Yakhnin. From a philosophical point of view, these works represent elements of the comic, recreated by language figures of speech, including a pun, in the form of linguistically non-standard patterns in the context of logic or semantics, emphasizing the importance of nonsense as a phenomenon that pragmatically contributes to the generation of humor and laughter reaction when reading.
