This article discusses the first poetic book by Sergei Yesenin with the unusual title «Radunitsa» (commemoration of the dead) through the prism of the implementation of Russian ritual symbols in it. In it, the poet turns to understanding the eternal cycle of life and death, while focusing not on the doom of nonexistence, but on the natural successive change of withering and flourishing. Yesenin’s poems are imbued with a subtle understanding of Orthodox rituals and folk traditions recorded in folklore. The symbolism of the title of the book is important not only for understanding this specific Yesenin’s idea, but also for the entire work of the poet as a whole as a sign of reality and the possibility of resurrection after death, faith in the victory of life over death, in the transformation of the world and man, in the indissoluble connection of man. and nature.
