Communicative and pragmatic function of emotional and aesthetic information in scientific articles

The article studies functions of emotional and aesthetic information in scientific articles, as well as their pragmatic effect on the recipient. The study material comprises scientific articles on linguistics written in Russian and English. Both verbal (stylistic devices) and non-verbal means (headings and key words accentuation, text layout) act as means of expressing aesthetic information, and are aimed at ensuring reading convenience, as well as structuring and organizing the narrative. Emotional information is expressed at lexical, grammatical and syntactic levels and mainly marks the statement of the author’s point of view on the problem under consideration, conveys the peculiarities of personal writing style and contributes to the establishment of a dialogue with a reader.
