The article is devoted to the study of the communicative strategies of surrealism as an artistic direction and intellectual position and their impact on contemporary artistic practices. The article comprehends the transformation of such aesthetic categories and communicative techniques as "ecphrasis", "mimesis of culture", agonal dialogue, taking to the extreme, a paradox, which were developed in the context of ancient Greek sophistry, were actualized in the context of modern art and do not lose their productivity in contemporary art.
