For successful vocational training, it is necessary to develop a student of two mutually complementary qualities - value orientation and skills of subject-practical activity. At the same time, a practice-oriented approach can be built only on the basis of the unity of material and spiritual values, sensual and rational in the learning process. The article shows that the learning process in creative universities, music universities in particular, has its own logic, its own traditions, in which in recent years there has been a certain shift associated with the outlined changes in methodological tools. The solution to this problem is possible in the context of preparing a creative, mobile, value-oriented professional who is ready to work with new information, build a vector of self-education, and orient himself in new social and economic conditions. But the prerequisite for solving this problem is an organic combination of conservative and innovative moments in the pedagogical process.
