The Concept of Dialogue of Cultures as a Basis for Constructing the Content of Teaching English to Chinese Undergraduate Students in Language Fields

The article substantiates the relevance of solving the problem of the lack of specialized educational programs aimed at teaching English to Chinese students in Russian universities. Working defi nitions of the key concepts of the study are presented (“intercultural competence”, “dialogue of cultures”). The main ethnocultural characteristics of Chinese students are identifi ed, determining the specifi cs of their inclusion in the dialogue of cultures in the process of learning English. The conditions for overcoming the problems associated with the characteristics of the study contingent, the principles of selecting educational materials taking into account the idea of the dialogue of cultures are determined. A conclusion is made about the need to create culturally relevant educational programs for students from China.
