The concept of marginality as an explanatory model of the socio-cultural trend functioning

The functioning of the globallocal society demonstrates both positive innovative breakthroughs and uncontrolled risks, which has created the need for constant monitoring of the main directions of society’s development, the priority influence of the most popular of which is called socio cultural trends. A significant focus of researchers’ attention is the beginning of their functioning and the deployment of their influence on cultural changes in society, to which various terms are proposed, such as triggers, driving springs of algorithms, signals, etc. However, such studies are limited to the analysis of specific trends without methodological justification. The article attempts to put forward the concept of marginality as a theory justifying the mechanisms of a sociocultural trend birth. The concept of marginality has received a new impetus in modern conditions due to the frequency of processes on the border of real and virtual spaces, the emergence of phygital technologies, convergence, collaborations, hybridization, and the spread of digital nomads. Along the way, an increment of the content components of the concept is presented, which is possible due to its potential in explaining modern processes.
