Confrontative linguistics

The article describes the basic concepts of confrontative (comparative, contrastive) linguistics in its classic version. It provides an overview of theoretical and applied problems solved in comparative studies. It also discusses crisis phenomena of confrontativistics related to its weak methodological basis. The author outlines the prospects of modern comparative researches based on cognitive, in particular, cogitological theory.
