The article analyzes the problem of conspiracy theory, its spread and influence on the politics in the context of digitalization. The author dwells in detail on the essence of conspiracy theory, its dangers, and the prerequisites for the emergence and promotion of conspiracy theory narratives. Particular attention is paid to how digitalization has given conspiracy theories a new status. The author formulates the trends in the development of conspiracy in the era of digitalization. From the point of view of the instrumentalization of conspiracy for political struggle, the case of the 45th/47th US President Donald Trump is analyzed. The author offers recommendations on minimizing the damage caused by conspiracy theories to the social and political development of society.
