The article describes the works on dogmatics and symbolics of a leading professor of the Theology Department of the Athens University in the first half of the 20th century Konstantinos Diovouniotis. First of all, the content of his two main works is considered - “The sacraments of the Eastern Orthodox Church from the point of view of dogmatics” and “The intermediate state of souls”. These works were at that time the best and most complete disclosure of these topics in Greek university science, although they contained some erroneous opinions of the author. A significant place in the article is devoted to his polemic with Ch. Androutsos regarding the “Dogmatics of the Orthodox Eastern Church” published by the latter. This controversy was conducted in a rather harsh tone, concerned more with various details and did not lead to significant progress in the teaching of dogmatic theology in Greece. In the field of symbolics, K. Diovouniotis did not create significant works, devoting himself mainly to paleographic studies in the later period of his life. There is a change in the attitude of K. Diovouniotis towards the symbolic books of the Orthodox Church, which he first considered as very authoritative and only at the end of his life subjected to a significant revaluation. He also corrected some erroneous dogmatic opinions that he had insisted on in his early works, although he continued to hold other controversial views to the end of life.
