Konstantin Simonov at the beginning of the XXI century: to the centenary of his birth

The article considers the work of Konstantin Simonov, one of the most popular Soviet writers of the middle of XX century. Works of Simonov became a shining example of "inclusion" of national content in the universal, and vice versa. At the same time, in contrast to Ehrenburg - another blockbuster writer and publicist of 40th, Simonov managed to resist the unbridled exaltation of all Russian with simultaneous depreciation of the entire German. The popularity of the works of Simonov of wartime is directly related to their proximity to the basic roots of nation being with a high, coming from popular culture, level of mythologism. Heroes and motives of Simonov works for decades determined the direction of development of Russian literature of XX century. Some of the "oblivion" of Simonov is associated with increased levels of information load on modern society, values relativism, which is spread among the youth. Yet Simonov's works continue their independent creative life, but in the media environment, actively reproducing sometimes without indication the original source, plot structure and myths of Simonov works.
