Contextual conditions under realization of repeated description in small prosaic works by V.P. Astafiev

The article is devoted to the issue of meaning formation in a literary text as one of the significant components of the problem of its interpretation. When decoding the meaning of a text, it is important to describe the specifics of reference and description. The purpose of this article is to identify contextual conditions for the implementation of repeated descriptions in V.P. Astafiev’s works. The problems of description were covered in the works by representatives of a number of logical and philosophical schools, in particular, the philosophy of analysis (G. Frege, B. Russell, L. Wittgenstein, R. Karnap, H. Reichenbach, etc.). In Russian linguistics, the works by N.D. Arutyunova, V.G. Gak, Z.Ya. Turaeva et al. Since the object of analysis in the article is the contextual conditions for the implementation of the forms of repeated description, the method of contextual analysis has been chosen as the leading one. Analysis of forms of repeated descriptions in V.P. Astafiev’s works allows us to conclude that the primary nomination of a protagonist using a proper name is used to form an idea of the typicality of his fate. Repeated description expands the characteristics of the protagonist in various ways. Each subsequent re-nomination has a clarifying character, as a result of which the reader has an idea of the most significant characteristics of the protagonist.
