The article presents data from a comparative empirical study of individual values of three ethnocultural groups of youth - Russian, Chechen and Daghestani - aimed at revealing the role of such cultural characteristics as collectivism and multi-ethnicity in the aspect of value preferences of representatives of these cultures, which traditionally correlate with the collectivist culture. The compared ethno-cultural groups represent different social communities: Russian youth is represented by a sample of high school students and students from St. Petersburg, Chechen youth - from the city of Grozny (Chechnya), Dagestani - from the city of Makhachkala (Dagestan). At the same time, Chechnya and Dagestan in sociocultural terms are largely similar and relate by culturolo-gists to traditional collectivist cultures. However, they differ significantly in that Dagestan consists of more than thirty indigenous ethnic groups, that is, it is originally polyethnic, while Chechnya is represented by one, the most numerous ethnic group in the North Caucasus. The results of the study showed that there are cross-cultural differences in the values of collectivism, and the impact on individual values of the collectivist orientation is not only the proximity of the social community to traditional culture, but also the factor of mono- and poly-ethnicity.
