The purpose of this work is to identify the cultural and axiological foundations of the pro-ecological be-havior of young people in Russia and Japan. To conduct an empirical study, a sample of 370 students of humanities was used [Chelyabinsk State University (Russia, N = 223), Ehime University (Japan, N = 147)]. In the empirical part of the study, it was not possible to prove the significance of differences in the values of different cultural sam-ples However, factor analysis made it possible to identify differences in the structure of the axiological foundations of Russian and Japanese students. The results from the Russian sample demonstrated a three- factor axiological structure focused on the values of social interaction, status- hedonic values, and values of growth and development. While in the Japanese sample, two factors emerged that combined the values of social cooperation and material- hedonic factors.
