Anarcho-mystic Cultural Project Russian Abroad

This article presents the results of a study of the mystical anarchism’s history in the Russian diaspora for the first time. It examines the community of anarchist mystics and their cultural project, and identifies the characteristics of the formation of a specific creative group consisting of publicists, poets and writers who did not recognize the «classical» forms of anarchist thought (anarcho-communism, anarcho-syndicalism, etc.). The author pays particular attention to the biographies of mystical anarchists from among Russian emigrants in the United States (E. Z. Dolinin, M. I. Rubezhanin, Y. S. Karpik, B. F. Gershenfeld). The article reveals the reasons why this creative community (and their cultural project) collapsed, and why the fate of the anarcho-mystics of the Russian diaspora is almost unknown to both cultural historians and historians of philosophy. At the same time, the author insists that the history of mystical anarchism in the United States is of particular interest to the academic community. The anarcho-mystics proposed a special project for the integration of working-class culture and intellectual culture based on the fundamental principles of mystical anarchism, which were formulated as early as 1905–1909 in Russia.
