The article examines the potential of the extracurricular activity course "Eaglets of Russia" in the context of the spiritual and moral education of primary school students. The relevance of the problem is confirmed by regulatory documents, particularly the Federal Educational Standard for Primary General Education, which emphasizes the key educational objectives and national values of Russian society as the basis for spiritual and moral education. The article examines “patriotism”, as well as spiritual and moral education as a pedagogical process, which is based on the main goal – the formation of a person’s personality capable of demonstrating moral behavior in any life situation. A modern means of cultivating such a personality includes extracurricular activities. Therefore, within the framework of school education, special attention should be paid to extracurricular programs, where schoolchildren learn about the events and actions of heroes, thereby learning about the moral and personal principles of attitude towards the Motherland and people. This inclusion in the life of the country on an emotional and cognitive basis forms a strong faith and an unwavering conviction in the value of one’s homeland.
