Lexical-semantic field ‘family’ and its representation in phraseological units of the Russian language

Statement of the problem. The relevance of the research is due to the increasing interest of modern linguistics in studying the linguistic picture of the world and ways of representing culturally significant concepts in language. The lexical-semantic field ‘Family’ is of particular interest because, being one of the key concepts of any culture, it largely forms value orientations and behavioral models in society. The purpose of the study is to identify and describe the specifics of the representation of the lexical-semantic field ‘Family’ in the phraseological units of the Russian language. The article’s material is phraseological units of the thematic group ‘family’ in the Russian language. The research methods are structural-grammatical, linguistic-cultural, and comparative analysis. Research results. The authors of the article conducted an analysis of about 50 phraseological units. The structural, grammatical and thematic classification of the collected phraseological units is carried out. The cultural and national specifics of the representation of the concept of ‘family’, reflected in Russian phraseology, is analyzed. Conclusions. Phraseological units do not duplicate the meanings of the lexical-semantic field, but act as its cultural and evaluative filter – a litmus test. They demonstrate that in the Russian linguistic worldview, the family is valued not just as a fact of kinship or living together, but as a complex hierarchical organism; a spiritual unity that is more important than material comfort; a social institution that requires work and rooting, an institution for the transfer of traditions and experience.
