Personal competence as a topical characteristic of social worker

We developed the model of a social worker, which included such components as special, social and personal competence. Personal competence was defined as a set of important personal qualities of professional; its components (moral and humanistic personality orientation, subject position, psychological characteristics, psychoanalytical abilities were characterized. The concepts of personal professional orientation, professional self-determination, and professional socialization were considered. We presented the results of long-term monitoring of professional socialization dynamics among the students of Buryat State University. Professional socialization was considered as a process of familiarizing the person to certain professional values. It had been concluded that wage level was the most important component for respondents in their future professional activities and the indicator "opportunity for professional growth" had significant increase. At the same time the number of students who was going to work after graduation in the specialty decreased. This fact reflected the problems in the modern labor market. We also presented the findings of value orientations research among students; the study characterized the professional orientation of future specialists in social work.
