Personal Qualities of Students Experiencing Difficult Life Situations

The results of an experimental study of the personal qualities of students experiencing difficult life situations are presented, in order to understand what differences exist in the personal qualities and emotional states of students who have faced different difficult life situations, in order to subsequently correct their emotional states. The study sample included 60 students from Penza State University (20 males, 40 females) aged 20 to 25 years. Research methods: “Difficult Life Situations” I.P. Shkuratovа; method of diagnosing the level of neuroticism L.I. Wasserman, modification by V.V. Boiko; “Measurement of Guilt and Shame” J. Tangney, adaptation by I.A. Belik; “Leahy Emotional Schema Scale (LESS)” R. Leahy. The analysis of the research results was carried out using the Student’s t-test. The authors conclude that: the emotional states of young people in difficult life situations are characterized by: dysfunctional emotions and feelings, instability, loss of control, rejection of feelings, low severity of feelings, disability.
