Personal characteristics of cadets and the problem of safety in professional activity

The authors discuss the safety features in professional flight activity and at its initial stage - the process of training in flight school. The aim is to study the gender characteristics of the personal profiles of cadets and to determine the complexes of personal characteristics of successful and unsuccessful cadets. Standardized methods were used in the work: SMIL and R. Kettell (16PF). The study sample consisted of 114 cadets (boys and girls) of 2017-2019 enrollment. The group of experts made it possible to study the applied side of the respondents' professional training: course instructor officers evaluated the cadets' performance. The features of personal profiles of cadets by gender, complexes of personal characteristics of successful and unsuccessful female and male cadets, which allow to ensure professional reliability when performing tasks and carry out professional activities safely, are revealed. The data obtained will be used to develop an escort program to improve flight safety, taking into account the conditions that ensure the psychological safety of cadets and pilots.
