The study presents the test results for 266 male police cadets aged 20-25. The research is based on the 16PF Questionnaire by R. Cattell, NPN-A (Neuropsychic Instability and Accentuation) Questionnaire and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire. The indicators are differentiated according to the criteria of the “Eysenck's cross”. The research reveals the professional characteristics of police cadets regardless of the type of temperament. They include the sufficient sociability, theoretical thinking, emotional stability, social boldness, and high self-control. Two-thirds of the respondents were persons characterized by the sanguine temperament and its combinations with the choleric and phlegmatic types. Personality traits of a sanguine person focus on social interactions that are more in tune with the requirements of police commissioners. The melancholic persons feel comfortable in terms of office work and in the field of information security. The mixed type of choleric and sanguine temperament implies activities under severe discipline and in a small group which are typical for special forces units. The mixed type of sanguine and phlegmatic temperament in contrast to the sanguine one is characterized by restraint, isolation, subordination, motivation for approval, stress resistance, and high self-control. This combination is optimal for teamwork.
