The article deals with the specific features of teaching Russian as a foreign language in the context of the current tendencies in educational science. There are considered the methodological papers devoted to the purpose constructions in the context of functional grammar. There are described the positions of the theory of the neurolinguistics programming. The author suggests the variants of the possible use of the theory in the practice of teaching Russian as a foreign language aimed at the effective learning.
