The paper deals with the biographical aspect of L. Feuchtwanger’s “The Lautensack Brothers”. Paul Kramer, one of the novel’s main characters, is shown to be very similar to the author. A number of facts, both direct and indirect, are analyzed in order to prove that Paul is Feuchtwanger’s selfportrait. Life circumstances of the author and his character are compared and this comparison allows to explain why Paul’s plotline has been organized exactly that way. Paul Kramer’s plotline is an alternative biography for Feuchtwanger in 1933.
