Manifesting the meaning of 'sticky’ using root consonants [l/l’j in Mongolian languages

The article reviews the words of Mongolic languages combined by an attribute ‘sticky’ with root consonants [l/l’]. Usage of this consonant in the process of verbalization of such an attribute is universal. On the base of psychophysiology data the author reveals interrelation between phonemes [l/l’] and meaning of words. It has been found that implementation of the attribute ‘sticky’ is connected with such articulation characteristics of phonemes [l/l’] as the adherence of the tongue and the palate. The lexemes reviewed in the article reflect the peculiarities of the sensual and figurative way of knowing the world. Further research in this direction could reveal sound-symbolic meanings of lexemes with phonemes [l/l’] which contain information not only about surface properties, but also about the shape of the object, dynamic states, psychological and other characteristics.
