It is generally known that the 1920-1930s were the years of humorous literature in Russia which are marked by the satirical play Workaholic Slovotekov and sarcastic publicistic short stories by M.Gorky, prose of M.Zoshchenko, M.Volkov, V.Shishkov, poems by D.Bedny, comic stories by P.Romanov and numerous satirical magazines. If we analyze the ways of Russian satiric prose development in the first third of the 20th century, it will be obvious that short stories were the most popular. Short novels and stories which were holding up the 19th century Russian literature traditions and renovating them with the help of masks and different types of humour and literary and documentary text combinations existed much longer than simplified satiric stories which unmasked class contradictions with the help of grotesque - jaded rich people and other people from the “old” world. Conclusion: for that matter, works by M.Koltsov (M.E.Fridlyand) who wrote a lot of satirical stories and newspaper satire articles in Pravda (The Truth) and then became the founder and editor of humorous magazine Chudak (The Crank) (1928 - 1930) are quite remarkable. With the help of documentalist mask giving information about the scene, names, with the help of the plot which is not well-developed but showing author's intention M. Koltsov creates the necessary effect and explains some facts at the same time giving the readers the opportunity to think about them.
