The media phenomenon "theater in cinema": principles of creation and perception

This article examines the basics of interaction between cinema and theater, which in the process of synthesis give rise to a new media phenomenon "Theater in cinema". The article uses a genetic approach that gives an idea of the phenomenon in terms of its origin and further development. The author also applies a semiotic approach, analyzing the directing and camerawork methods used to broadcast theatrical performances on the screen, as well as techniques that ensure the viewer's immersion in the stage space. The article examines the history of the development of theatrical broadcasts, transfer methods, positive and negative aspects of the perception of performances through the screen. In conclusion the prospect of the longterm existence of the “Theater in Cinema” phenomenon is analyzed.
