The peculiarities of mediation in teaching English to foreign students

Due to globalization, there is an increase in academic mobility in the world's leading universities. Perm State University has increased demands in the quality and flexibility of educational services. Due to the increase of foreign students at the university and the attraction of students from new countries, it is necessary to introduce technologies that soften the acute angles, eliminate problems in the education of students, in adapting them to study at our university. Mediation in foreign language teaching has a positive impact on effectiveness of the educational process. Conclusions of the latest researches allow to assume that by means of mediation it is possible to reduce such factors of adaptation, as personal-psychological and climatic, as well as the factor of specificity of pedagogical system of university. Particularly, the factor of specificity of pedagogical process of university is mostly exposed to mediation and it is capable to raise efficiency of educational process at training foreign students. The article reflects the concept of mediation as an interdisciplinary field and worldview approach to the perception of man as a person. Mediation is considered as a separate type of speech activity. The authors' understanding of communicative language mediation is described. The authors analyze the features of teaching foreign students at PSU. The role of mediation in teaching international students English is considered in detail. The authors prove that for successful application of mediation it is necessary to be guided by innovative developments in psychology. The importance of the peculiarities of students' mentality and culture in the implementation of mediation is emphasized. Much emphasis is also placed on the use of audio, video, and interactive resources. Due to the variety of methodological methods and technical means involved in the process of mediation in training, practical classes for foreign students who speak English at the level of A1-A2, contribute to the formation of knowledge that is necessary for the modern stage of scientific and professional activity (ability to make a report, presentation, negotiating skills, speaking at scientific conferences, etc. in English).
