Memorization of events as a way to influence public consciousness

Free access

The theoretical analysis of the phenomenon of memorization as one of the components of the formation of historical memory in the context of its influence on the state of public consciousness in the modern world is presented. The actualization of the problems is connected with the dynamics of globalization processes, which have sharply identified today the problems of consolidation of society, overcoming interethnic and socio-cultural conflicts, instability, religious and ideological differences, which makes us look at these issues through the prism of historical memory, cultural traditions, commemorative practices and their role in preserving national identity and reducing social tension in the context of globalization. The result of the presented research was the conclusion about the social nature of historical memory, in which the processes of memorization are ideologically biased, when the past appears not in its actual and unchanged form, but based on the socio-political demand of today, thereby forming the «necessary» vector of social development.
