Place of study discipline “Foreign language” in the structure of the educational program of a military university

The article examines the content of the “Foreign language” discipline in a military university at the present stage. The current system of foreign language training needs to be taken to a qualitatively new level. It is proposed to construct in a fundamentally new way the main stages of the process of teaching a foreign language in a military university. The article describes a modern approach to building a new model of teaching a foreign language based on the gradual formation of mental actions. The scientific substantiation of critical understanding of the methodology of teaching a foreign language in a military university is stated. The content of foreign language training of cadets, which correlates with the content of military vocational training in a military technical university, is defined and presented. The main approaches to teaching a foreign language in a military university are presented. It is proposed to use an activity-based approach to the construction of the discipline “Foreign language”, which consists in using all known methods of teaching a foreign language in the system of a military university. The authors offer a practical perspective on the construction of a foreign language course, taking into account the military-professional specificity of HEIs.
