The Metaphysics of All- Unity and the Concept of Deification in the Works of A. F. Losev and Fr. P. Florensky

The main topic of this article is the influence of the main paradigm of the philosophy of all-unity on the ideas of deification by A. F. Losev and Fr. P. Florensky. In this case, such a paradigm refers to the initial position in the worldview that reveals the “dialectics of the Absolute” as a special metaphysical process of the emergence of new “divine- human” hypostases in God. According to the author, the ideas of this “dialectics” are present in one form or another in the works of both thinkers. This is related to a specific (and, in the author’s opinion, inadequate) interpretation of St. Gregory Palamas’s teaching about the need to distinguish between the inaccessible Divine essence and the Divine energies, which humans can and should participate in through the process of deification. The author consistently examines and compares the concepts of deification in the works of Fr. P. Florensky and A. F. Losev, and concludes that they differ in details but agree on the main point: their dependence on the doctrine of Godmanhood in the philosophy of all-unity by V. S. Solovyov.

Divine essence \ Divine energies \ philosophy of all-unity \ deification \ Godmanhood \ the Name of God \ glorification of the name
