The article deals with the theoretical substantiation of the use of the metaphor as the way of the diagnostics of the organizational culture of the educational institutions, allowing not only to study the peculiarities of the educational culture, proper to the educational institution, but also to start the processes of its development and improvement. There is suggested the experience of the use of the metaphor in the diagnostics of the organizational cultures of the schools in Volgograd.
