Metacognitive awareness of the reading strategies as a factor of developing the reading competence of future teachers of foreign languages

The article deals with the essence of the metacognitive awareness that provides the effectiveness of the sensing of the written text. There is substantiated the structure of the metacognitive awareness in the implementation of the reading strategies. There are revealed and characterized the kinds of the declarative and imperative knowledge forming the core of the metacognitive strategic awareness. There are described the specific features of the activities' self-control and the control of the effectiveness of the implementation of the reading strategies.
