The article is devoted to one of the topical methodological problems of teaching a foreign language in the process of intercultural communication. Despite the variety of methodological approaches, mastering a foreign language by university students at a high professional level remains one of the main pedagogical tasks. The authors attempt to substantiate the positive and negative aspects of the methodological approaches developed in the Soviet period of our society. At the same time, the authors do not exclude positive foreign experience. The article reflects on modern approaches to teaching a foreign language, taking into account distant learning technologies. The authors justify the expediency of using a comprehensive approach, which uses interactive pedagogical technologies in developing strategies and tactics and teaching a foreign language. The authors propose a methodology in which each educational lesson introduces a new approach. novelty element. These can be: a new topic, interactive technologies for presenting educational material (game, discussion, problem, etc.), multimedia methods for fixing the material and assessment markers, or innovative forms of independent work.
