The article studies the metric and rhythmical-syntactic aspects of translating Russian bylinas into English. Bylinas are an integral part of Russian culture and belong to a dis-tinct genre of verbal folk poetry – the heroic epic. The study material includes bylinas from the Kiev, Novgorod, and Medieval cycles, along with their English translations. The analysis demonstrates that metric and rhythmical-syntactic features are key char-acteristics of the structure and organization of both the original poetic texts and their translations. Through specific examples presented in the article it is shown that these aspects are primarily conveyed in translations through syntactic parallelism and allit-eration. Syntactic parallelism and alliteration contribute first and foremost to the im-plementation of the mnemotechnic function of the texts.
