The article attempts to reveal the phenomenon of the museum as a factor in the dialogue of cultures that promotes international interaction. Using the example of the exhibition “Paris-Moscow” in the Paris Museum of the Centre Pompidou and in the Moscow Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, it is demonstrated how museums take part in shaping the context of bilateral relations through the transmission of the country’s image abroad. Through the prism of M. Bakhtin’s concept of the dialogue of cultures, the author analyzes the concept of the exhibition “Paris-Moscow” as a polyphonic interaction of two artistic traditions, French and Russian. Particular attention is paid to the activities of museum projects in the field of international diplomacy, cultural cooperation and foreign cultural policy of countries. In conclusion, the author notes the importance of museum projects as mediators that destroy barriers between ideologically opposed systems, forming new narratives of mutual understanding.
