В результате исследований установлено, что при скрещиваниях S. melongena с дикими видами как в качестве отцовского, так и материнского компонента, межвидовым гибридам передаются основные признаки генеративных органов дикого вида: форма и размер цветка, окраска, форма и размер плода.
