The article is devoted to the problem of the study of zoomorphic symbolism in mythology. As the subject of analysis, the mythological myth of snake-fighting is widespread in the cultures of the world. The widespread prevalence of this myth is associated with its important cosmogonic role in the formation and design of sociocultural space, the designation of its boundaries. Dragon-slaying is the subject of many special studies, noting the versatility of this mythologem and the ambiguity of plot lines and semantic features in various ethnic and historical versions. The image of the serpent-antagonist often does not look so much negative, but rather fulfilling certain official functions of designing the cultural space and mediation in it. There is a certain kinship between the images of the conquering and defeated monster, which speaks of the unity and integrity of chaos and space, natural and created, demarcation, based not on the destruction, but on the development, transition, transmission and receipt of the energy of the world order.
