Рассматривается процесс мобилизации первого канадского добровольческого контингента для участия в Первой мировой войне. Изложение событий ограничено периодом с 4 по 23 августа 1914 г., т.е. с момента присоединения Канады к британской декларации об объявлении войны до отправки первой канадской дивизии в военно-тренировочный лагерь в окрестностях Квебека для прохождения воинской подготовки.
