Modality in educational discourse

The article deals with the qualitative - quantitative analysis of language means of modality in educational discourse. “Objective” and “subjective” types of modality have been analysed on the basis of authentic phrases used by the teacher at the lessons of English. The analysis of the modal contexts has revealed the dominant feature of educational discourse. The results of the research, if taken into account, may help students, having their teaching practice at school or college, to speak proper English at the lessons
