Model of professional competence of occupational safety specialist

With the increasing complexity of technologies and the increase in production volumes the risk of accidents increases. An occupational safety specialist is a necessary link in the structure of enterprises' activities, and his work responsibilities are constantly expanding. The author studies the problem of the discrepancy between the planned competencies of graduates of the “Technosphere Safety” program and the competencies of occupational safety specialists. The researchers are studying the impact of various types of occupational safety specialist’s competencies for performing specific work functions. At the moment, the models of the competences of an occupational safety specialist are voluminous and are difficult to comprehend. The author developed a model of competences of an occupational safety specialist in order to introduce the acquired competencies into the educational program. Based on the results of the analysis of regulatory documents and literature, the article uses competence-based, system and nuclear approaches as the basis for the development of the model. With the help of modeling and the method of expert assessment, the nuclear structure of the model was developed. The model contains 3 core competencies, which make it possible to characterize the professional competence of an occupational safety specialist in the most universal way. This model can be the basis for the development of a competence model for any specialist.
